My grandpa loves the stuff and while it tastes gross to me, it’s candy to him.
That’s why for his next Birthday I plan to give him Anise Star Essential Oil. Not only will he love the smell, but it will be great for his sore knee! Speaking of uses, let’s dive in!

What Anise Star Oil Blends Well With
Star Anise smells a lot like black licorice. This aroma isn’t for everyone, but allows for a unique scent to add to blends and can reduce the harshness of other scents in a blend. Try blending it with Fennel, Clove, Lavender, Geranium, and Chamomile Essential Oils.

Digest Blend
Because of Anise Star’s ability to support digestion, we added it to our Digest Essential Oil Blend. This blend can be used through aromatherapy or topically to soothe stomach pain and cramping.
Science Behind Star Anise Essential Oil
Star Anise Essential Oil is largely composed of trans-anethol. This ester has had a variety of studies done on it, from which we can conclude its uses. Here’s what we know about it:
trans-anethol
Antispasmodic: reduces muscle spasms in both smooth and skeletal muscles, making it useful in soothing muscle cramps and digestion.
Anti-inflammatory: alleviates inflammation, helpful in pain relief
Antithrombotic: decreases blood clotting, and helps relax blood vessels. This can help trigger menstruation.
Its penetrating properties allow it to be helpful in loosening mucous, making it a good expectorant.
